TLV Autumn Hop

Tel Aviv | Israel

Mr. Ben

Hailing from the cold dark land of Sweden, Ben spent those long winter months bringing joy and warmth to the frozen feet of his compatriots with some classic soul tracks. He has close to ten years experience of filling soul, blues and swing dancefloors, and has played in festivals all over Europe. Since moving to Israel, he has become a fixture at all of Tel-Aviv’s Swing and Blues venues, where he delights in bringing the best old and new tunes for people to enjoy. Ben has a strong obsession with music, but despite many attempts, he is unable to play a musical instrument. Instead he channels that into DJing, dancing, and long arguments about music that don't really serve a purpose. He's especially passionate about all forms of blues and swing, from the rural Delta rythm to that urban New York sound via the melting pot of New Orleans, and he knows that it has the power to move both your body and your soul like nothing else can.

Shorty George

Dancing & loving Lindy Hop, Balboa, & Blues since November 2004, Shorty George travels for dance – Australia, Holland, Iceland, now in Turkey since 2012. Living like a gypsy, he toured Europe in 2009, part of it dancing in the streets alongside a gypsy folk jazz band – the Cangelosi Cards.
Hot & slow or hot & fast, international DJ Shorty George plays to get people dancing, jockeying tunes produced by artists from all over the world. He’s regularly DJed fast dance nights, weekly social dances, and blues parties in New York City, Amsterdam, Reykjavik & Istanbul.
Interesting tidbit, through his webcam & Skype (sort of), Shorty George DJ'd from New York to Amsterdam, and also from Istanbul to Barcelona.

DJ Sigurður

Originally a classically trained pianist, Sigurður came in contact with the jazz music of Django Reinhardt as a teenager in his hometown in the north of Iceland and instantly fell in love. Jazz, and especially swingin’ jazz and its striding New Orleans predecessor, has since been a major part of his life.

Acknowledging that the notion of swing music without dancing is as ridicolous as the idea of a fly whithout its wings, it was only after he stumbled into a Lindy hop beginners class that he really started growing his swing wings.

Using his experience as a performer, his fresh but growing knowledge of the dance, and his endless passion for swing music, he feels naturally at home creating the atmosphere for the dancefloor. Sigurður began DJing in his home scene in Reykjavik, formed a seven-piece swing band a little later and established and organized Iceland's’ winter swing festival, Lindy on Ice. This is his first year at Autumn Hop.

DJ ShvekAttack

Music has always been a part of Liraz’s life. As a music educator, introducing new music to people isn’t just a passion but also a profession. She first started DJ’ing as the office DJ, and has continued to be that at every job she ever held. Her talent and understanding of music clearly shines through and she is now one of Israel’s most appreciated and sought after Blues and Swing DJs. As a dancer, Liraz knows what makes people move and has been doing so at international festivals and dance floors in Berlin, Barcelona, Prague, Madrid, Edinburgh and all over Israel. She is always looking for those interesting and beautiful tunes that will inspire the dancers on the floor. From slow sorrowful blues to the powerful Big Bands, Liraz will ensure that the floor is always filled with both dancing and emotion.
